Moving value to friends and family just became instant, free, and borderless.
Coinmetro Internal Transfers are now available. This feature allows you to send supported cryptocurrencies to other Coinmetro users instantly, with no network fees, no gas fees, and no Coinmetro service fees.
Internal Transfers are processed entirely within the Coinmetro platform. Because transactions do not need to be broadcast to a public blockchain, they settle immediately without requiring block confirmations or incurring on-chain fees.
• Instant settlement: Transfers between Coinmetro users complete in seconds.
• No fees: No network fees, gas fees, or Coinmetro service charges apply. The recipient receives the exact amount sent.
• Supported assets: Internal Transfers are currently available for cryptocurrencies (e.g. BTC, ETH, XCM, KDA). Fiat currencies and stablecoins (USDT, USDC) are not currently supported.
Important: The value of cryptoassets can go down as well as up. You may lose some or all of the money you invest. Cryptoasset regulation varies by jurisdiction. Please ensure you understand the rules that apply in your country before using this feature.
When initiating a transfer, you can locate a recipient by any of the following:
@MetroTag: Each Coinmetro account has a unique, customisable @MetroTag. To be searchable by other users, navigate to Settings and set your MetroTag visibility to Public.
Mobile phone number: You may locate and send to a recipient using their registered mobile phone number. Include the correct international dialling prefix for their country.
Email address: You may also send funds using a recipient's email address.
Avatar: When a match is found, the recipient's Avatar (if set) will appear alongside their details. This provides a visual confirmation that you are sending to the correct person before you proceed.
The sending process works slightly differently depending on whether the recipient already has a Coinmetro account.
Sending to an existing Coinmetro user
1. Enter the recipient's @MetroTag, registered phone number, or registered email address.
2. Select the cryptocurrency and amount you wish to send.
3. Review the recipient details, including their Avatar if displayed, and confirm the transfer.
4. The funds are credited to the recipient's Coinmetro balance immediately. The recipient receives a notification and the asset is available in their account without delay.
Please note: Transfers to existing users are processed immediately and cannot be reversed. Always verify recipient details before confirming.
Sending to a recipient without a Coinmetro account
You may also send funds to a recipient using their mobile phone number, even if they do not yet have a Coinmetro account:
1. Enter the recipient's mobile phone number, including the correct international dialling prefix for their country.
2. Select the cryptocurrency and amount, and confirm the transfer.
3. The funds are debited from your account and held in pending status.
4. The recipient is notified via SMS or WhatsApp that funds are available for them to claim.
Note: For recipients in the USA and Canada, notifications are sent via WhatsApp only. The recipient must have WhatsApp installed to receive the message.
5. The recipient creates a Coinmetro account using their phone number and completes identity verification (KYC).
6. Once their account is verified, the funds are credited to their balance automatically.
Unclaimed transfers: If the recipient does not create an account and claim the transfer within 7 days, the transaction is cancelled and the full amount is returned to your balance.
Internal Transfers are available now on the Coinmetro platform.
• Mobile users: Ensure the Coinmetro app is updated to the latest version to access this feature.
• To be discoverable by other users, set your MetroTag visibility to Public in Settings.
• You may set a custom Avatar in your account settings to help others confirm your identity when sending.
